What’s the story behind your path to Alacrity Canada, and what made this the right place for you?

For over 20 years, I've worked in various industries in the US, Europe, and Canada, such as renewable energies, Indigenous reconciliation and negotiations, grant writing, and policy development. I grew up in the US and earned my MA in International Policy Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and speak French and German fluently, as well as intermediate Italian. 

Due to my international background, I was initially attracted to Alacrity’s multinational programs, especially the Advanced Pathways for Export (APEX) Program. Since joining the organization and working closely with the team, I’ve become even more inspired by the organization. While the team may be small, it is mighty. Everyone brings a can-do attitude and a shared dedication to helping entrepreneurs scale successfully. Our collaborative and supportive culture enables us to deliver innovative, customized solutions quickly and effectively for our clients. The work is both rewarding and intellectually challenging, so I’m excited to continue contributing to the APEX Program and supporting the businesses as they grow.

What excites you most about guiding founders through the APEX journey?

Opportunities for BC small- and medium-sized businesses to expand internationally have never been better. While many exporters have traditionally relied on the U.S. market, recent lessons highlight the need for Canadians to diversify and build new global partnerships. The APEX Program is helping BC businesses lead this shift, thereby strengthening Canada’s trade ties worldwide.

If you had to sum it up, what’s APEX’ biggest edge for entrepreneurs?

Unlike traditional accelerator programs that rely on a one-size-fits-all model, APEX offers BC business owners a highly tailored experience with dedicated one-on-one support. Founders work directly with in-market advisors who have hands-on experience scaling startups and expanding globally, providing practical insights and proven guidance that cannot be replicated through generic programming.
